JOB'd is a service run by TSP designed for College enrolled Decorators aiming to be a full-time qualified decorators in the future. Its a chance for you to build your customers, gain experience and income helping you to learn to put into practise the general running of your new business, ready for when you leave college.

How it Works:

JOB'd is a free service provided by TSP which is designed to help college enrolled decorators build their customers and financial income. The service provides you with customers that require quotes for decorating in Northamptonshire. 

Using our service is a great way to gain experience needed for becoming a qualified self employed decorator while building your own customers at the same time.

Once you have signed up and completed the sign up procedure you will be sent your login details and be able to view and quote for the available jobs for free. 

When applying to quote for the jobs the first 5 or more decorators to apply for the advertised job shall be selected and given the customers telephone number. It is then up to you to call the customer and arrange a time and date to view the job and quote. 

Each available job has a price cap that you must adhere to when quoting the customer. The price for any extra work the customer asks you to do, which isn't included in the initial details, can be priced by yourself with no guideline in place.

You have the freedom to choose the jobs you are interested in and what would best suits you at your stage of competency. You shall not be answering to a boss and you will only be dealing with customers direct. 

You will be responsible for:
  • Quoting 
  • Getting yourself to the job
  • Doing the work unsupervised
  • Invoicing the customer
  • Collecting payment
  • Doing your self employed paperwork.

Getting Jobs 
Jobs will be put on our job page for you to view and quote, each job will have a job number, a maximum labour only price guideline (price cap), the area the job is in, along with photos and a description of the required works (if possible). 

There is a form at the bottom of the Job Page that you will need to fill and send to apply for the job you are interested in. 

After you have applied for the job and if you are within the first 5 applicants you will then be sent the customers phone number so you can arrange a date with them to view and quote the job.

Doing the job
  • If your quote is accepted, you are completely responsible for the following:
  • Picking up the pre ordered materials from the suppliers
  • Getting yourself to and from the job
  • Completing the job to a satisfactory standard 
  • Supplying your own tools & safety equipment
  • Supplying basic materials such as fille, sandpaper etc (this will be taken into consideration within the price guideline)
  • Invoicing and collecting payment
Materials such as paint, wallpaper, coving and other large materials required shall be ordered and paid for by the customer but must be picked up from the suppliers by you if needed. The price of materials supplied by the customer shall not be shown on the job page and are not included within your price guideline.

Do i have to be insured?
Yes, to work you need to have public liability insurance. There are many insurers online its always best to shop around to find the best deal.

Do i have to be registered as a sole trader?
Yes, you will need to be registered as self employed to start applying for jobs, if you are not click the link below and get registered now!


Do i need my own transport?
You will need to get to the jobs with your kit on time and get home.

Do i have to be over 18?
No

Do other decorators quote also?
Yes, all the jobs posted are for everyone signed up to Job'd to view, but don't let this dishearten you, most of the jobs are for specific dates which means only certain jobs can be done by decorators who are available for that date and also have different levels of competency, reducing the amounts of applications per job.

Do fully qualified decorators use Job'd?
No. only decorators that fit the sign up criteria can quote..

How is the price guideline made?
Before the job is posted it is assessed by TSP, we work out how many days it would take a professional decorator to do and the materials needed. We then work with the customer to find an appropriate price for both the customer and decorator.

Can i quote higher or lower than the price guideline?
No. but if any extra work is required that is not in the initial job post, you can price the extra work yourself with no guidelines. 

How do i benefit from using Job'd?
By using our service you will be building your clientele while gaining experience of being a self employed decorator, without having to pay cost for advertising.

Can the customer request me through Job'd?
Yes, if the customer wished to use you again or through recommendation of a previous customer then we shall pass that job directly to you.

Can the customer contact me directly in the future without using Job'd?
Yes, the idea of Job'd is to help you build up your customers while gaining experience ready for when you leave college.

Do customers use JOBd again instead of staying with one decorator?
Sometimes the customer will use JOBd again to give other decorators a chance to gain experience.

Can i apply for the jobs that best suit me and leave the rest?
Yes, if there is any work that you feel uncomfortable doing then you do not have to apply for it.


What happens after i have sent my application?
If you are within the first 5 decorators to apply you shall be sent the customers details by text so you can call the customer to arrange a date to view and quote the job. If you get the job then it is completely your responsibility through to the end, it is entirely up to you to get the job completely finished to a satisfactory standard. 

Do i invoice the customer directly?
Yes, if the customer lives in a residential property the terms & conditions are to pay either by cash or bank transfer on job completion. This means when the job is complete and the customer is happy with the work, they should pay you when the job is finished. The customer may need an invoice before paying so you must have an invoice and/or receipt ready for them when you are leaving. You could either use a paper written Invoice and/or receipt or email them one from your phone, but make sure you have it already typed up and ready to send the night before job completion. 

How long for a commercial property customer invoice payment? 
It can sometimes take upto 14 days for a commercial property customer to pay the invoice and it will be paid by bank transfer only.

What if i experience problems while on the job?
Any problems or situations occur that you feel uncomfortable with while on your job just call us on 07719775977 and we will be happy to assist you where needed.

Can i cancel the application after sending the quote?
Yes, we understand sometimes unforeseen situations occur, so if you do have a change of circumstances then please just call or text us on 07719775977 and let us know straight away.

Can i rearrange the start date?
This is something you must discuss with the customer.

Can i cancel the job once i have had my quote accepted?
We understand unforeseen situations occur so if after you have had your quote accepted and you need to cancel the job then you must notify the customer and call or text us straight away so we can make alternative arrangements on 07719775977. If cancelling the job becomes frequent your opportunity to quote again will cease.

Do i loose the job if i cancel it?
Yes, the job will then be offered to the next available quote.

Signing up
To sign up to JOB'd as a decorator you have to fit the following criteria:
  • Enrolled in a painting & decorating course
  • Registered as Self employed 
  • Fully Insured
  • Able to get to and from the job
If you do not fit the above criteria but you are still enrolled in college, you can still sign up before the other criteria can be met. 

Getting a Customer
Once the sign up process is completed you are ready to have access to our JOB'd page, on this page there will be jobs from potential customers that you quote for. (further information will be available on the JOB'd page)

Quoting 
Once the job has been passed over to you it is the decorators responsibility to contact the customer to arrange a time and date to quote the job. Any extra work that was not on the original quote can be charged as an extra. 

Commencing work
If you get the job TSP do not take any responsibility for damages that occur, neither do we take any responsibility for collecting payment from the customer. It is the decorators responsibility to do the works required, invoicing and collecting payment.

All though an understanding by the customer is required when using an Up & Coming decorator, if the job is not complete or not upto standard the customer has the right not to pay for the works done. If the job is not upto standard you will be given a chance to rectify any problems and if you cannot complete the job it shall be passed to another decorator.

Invoicing and payment
It is the decorators responsibility to invoice and collect payment from the customer on job completion 

Keeping the customer
If the customer is happy with the works carried out the customer can use you again, but in some cases the customer may use JOB'd decorators to give everyone experience.

When signing up you agree to all terms & conditions and give permission for TSP to contact your college and discuss with them your progress and training.

TSP take no responsibility for collection of payment.
TSP take no responsibility for any damages or injuries that occur.
